When we think to ourselves that the Princípe Real neighbourhood just can’t get any cooler, we always end up pleasantly surprised – ZeroZero, the new kid on the block, brings delicious pizza and 100% Italian, DOP products (Protected Designation of Origin), directly from the boot-shaped country.
On Príncipe Real’s main road, with panoramic windows into the restaurant’s kitchen, from the outside, you can see Gianni Riondato, the pizzaiolo at work. If that alone weren’t invitation enough to go in… inside you’re greeted by a Prosecco bar (the city’s first!), with some signature cocktails by the resident barmen. The Preosecco, obviously, the Bellini and Spritz are your perfect companions. Also at the entrance, a small charcuterie, selling DOP cheeses and enchidos.
Andiamo! Inside, in a cosy yet very spacious environment, you’ll find a large, rotating oven where the pizzas are prepared. Its perfect for casual dining and to go with the family – ZeroZero is very kid-friendly, especially at lunchtime, where the outside patio shines in the glorious light of Lisbon. The patio is also perfect for an after-dinner cocktail while enjoying the warm summer nights of Lisbon.
For starters, the Carpaccio di manzo with rocket or the creamy Burrata con Prosciutto crudo di Parma 18 mesi with basil olive oil are our top choices. For mains, there are twenty-six round pizzas, plus three Calzone, so you’ll be spoilt for choice – take your pick. Just be warned: arrive early – they don’t take reservations.
