The history of Snob began in 1964, but it was later bought in 1967 by Adriano Oliveira. Its elegant, understated décor, inspired by the tradition of English pubs, became a hub for intellectual discussions over generations. Located in Bairro Alto, it was a popular retreat for journalists and a meeting spot for political and cultural figures, at a time when censorship was rife in Portugal, who frequented it for a “Bife à Snob”, croquettes, or the famous mango mousse. After a careful renovation, Snob reopened its doors in 2024, maintaining the original décor and recipes that have won over several generations, continuing to be an iconic place for Lisbon residents.
