The beautifully restored 1950s dining room perfectly sets the scene for the fine attention to detail and exemplary service that awaits at Varanda. With its contemporary Mediterranean cuisine and views over Eduardo VII Park, it is the restaurant of choice for the local aristocracy, political movers and shakers, movie stars and international jet-setters.

Over lunch hours, the room displays a lavish buffet with a choice as wide as the room: from cold cuts, salads and sushi, hot dishes which usually include some Portuguese cuisine classics. By the entrance, opening the buffet there is the desserts station, to make sure you won’t miss it and try some of the pastry chef Fabian Nguyen’s creations.

During dinner hours, from 7:30 pm, the ambience changes to leave space to a more intimate and romantic atmosphere, offering an a la carte menu, in which guests can enjoy chef Pascal Meynard delights: starters such as Duck foie gras, cherries from Fundão, pistachio and crispy liquorice; from the sea try the marinated turbot with Ritz salt, clams and sea fingers, bivalve sauce and myrte citronnée; for meat lovers we recommend the matured Irish beef tenderloin “à la ficelle”, foie gras, black truffle sauce or the slow-cooked suckling pig, bio vegetables pickles in green sansho.

Over the weekend, don’t miss Weekend Brunch—a family ritual for locals and guests alike. One of Lisbon’s top eateries — reservations are highly recommended!
