Monte Mar is perhaps one of the most established and well-known restaurants in Guincho, counting already more than forty years since its opening. After conquering a legion of fans with its famous Hake Fillets with Cockle Rice, their fish and seafood swam further from Guincho and have recently reached Lisbon.

Opened in the beginning of 2016 in Lisbon, at Cais do Sodré, Monte Mar is ready to be a lisbonner reference in the fresh fish and seafood dining scene.

With the Tagus River and 25th April Bridge featuring as the background scenario, the former industrial and warehouse space, has been transformed into a refined and elegant atmosphere. The space comprises an area for events, dining room and a esplanade, so that you may also enjoy al fresco dining.

On the menu, the specialties, as expected from a seaside restaurant, come from the sea. Start with some ultra fresh oysters, go for a Spider Crab or stuffed King crab, or “simply” have a cataplana dinner, to taste the ocean’s flavours. The freshness of Monte Mar’s fish and seafood, and all ingredients (including the homemade mayonnaise) is indeed its asset, and made Monte Mar one of the references for seafood. However there is also room for the meat lovers, to whom we recommend to go for some Portuguese specialties such as Iscas à Portuguesa (Liver, the Portuguese way). In the end, make sure you save some space for a Santini ice-cream or for an Iced Hazelnut mouse, a classic.

Whether in Lisbon with a river view, or in Guincho with sea view, Monte Mar guarantees you’ll taste the sea and it’s richest flavors.
