The first Kabuki restaurant opened in Madrid in 2000. It was at this intimate sushi bar where, for the first time, Kabuki revealed the unusual yet incredibly savoury meeting between Japanese and Mediterranean cuisines. The exceptional fusion of the two gastronomic worlds – what we now know as Kabuki cuisine – played an important role in shaking the status quo of the typical japanese sushi restaurant, unveiling a new, exciting, delicious world which awarded them a Michelin Star recently.
The Lisbon restaurant opened in December 2021 in the galleries of the Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon, and it was the Kabuki group’s first venture outside of Spain. The organisation spared no effort or money when moving to the Portuguese capital, beginning with the dimension: three stories with three complimentary themes; the building’s interior design and decoration; and appointing Madrid Chef Andrés Pereda, who has been with the Kabuki structure for 14 years.
The Lisbon restaurant will reimagine sushi by combining Japanese flair with Mediterranean soul centred on Portuguese products, whether through à la carte menus or even more refined services such as a tasting menu.
