The first spot in Lisbon to be 100% dedicated to Gin had to be born from the will of the Gin Lovers team. They revolutionized how Gin was being served in the capital, they launched National Gin Day… and now they bring us one all-comprising-space; gin bar, store, restaurant & lifestyle.
A unique and truly amazing space in Lisbon dedicated to gin
Located in the ground floor of Embaixada – a neo-Moorish palace from the 1800s – in the heart of the trendy Príncipe Real neighbourhood, Gin Lovers Príncipe Real has a relaxed atmosphere that integrates the space it’s in perfectly. DJ Miss K is in charge of music, with moods carefully curated to the specific time of day, night and season – the dominance of fado, jazz and bossa nova during the day give way to party DJs at night on party nights and weekends.
At the bar, you’ll find, you guessed it: Gin!
There will be 60 of the world’s best gins on the menu, including a selection of Portuguese brands, exotic tonic waters, an enviable array of fresh spicy, floral or citrus botanicals to guarantee a variety of flavourful twists, as well as a selection of cocktails and wine.
Our suggestion for the perfect serve with a Gin Lovers twist: Beefeater 24, the world’s most awarded gin, with tonic water, orange blossom and lavender, aromatized with grapefruit zest and juniper.
If you’re feeling peckish after a day’s shopping, the space will also serve meals, although the menu isn’t as extensive as the list of gins. You’ll be able to choose from light starters, main courses and dessert. The restaurant follows Gin Lovers’ commitment to honouring the quality of local ingredients, and their collaboration with Portugal’s top chefs, always pairing their food with Gin. But watch this space, as apparently a well-known Chef will soon be joining the team! Just don’t hold back on the gin – it’s always 5 o’clock somewhere!
Finally, the store will give you access to some of the best Gins in the world, as well as to the Gin Lovers Experiences and Workshops, magazines, books and merchandising.
And if all this wasn’t already enough to convince you, young Portuguese artist Mário Belém made a special mural – a mixed-technique work with wood on acrylic – the artists’ interpretation of the botanical elements in Gin, like hibiscus, cinnamon and juniper, and adequately named: Ostentatious botanical surroundings (Aparatosa Envolvência Botânica in Portuguese). Nothing was left to chance.
