One of the most family-friendly restaurants in Lisbon, Este Oeste is set on the first floor of Centro Cultural de Belém, overlooking the river from its lush outside gardens. The space is all that you could want, from the asian-inspired room inside, to its magnificent outside terrace perched among the gardens, Este Oeste is a great place to bring the kids, hang out with friends or watch the sun set over the river on a summer evening.

The menu blends Italian and Japanese food – hence the name “East West” –  in what is an unlikely but incredibly delicious combination. The typical bruschettas and crostinis are present, as in any Italian restaurant worth its name, as are the edamames, or goysas, for its Japanese counterparts. Pizzas and Pastas are countered with Sushi and Sashimi, while some of the items really do fuse together both cuisines – the Yakisoba (tagliatelle with shrimp, oriental vegetables and yakisoba sauce) is one of our favourites, really making the case for this improbable marriage.

Children will be happy with the kid-friendly menu (pizzas, pasta and burgers for all) and the beautiful and safe outside gardens that allow them to run around freely, and adults will appreciate the fantastic view, excellent food all-around and especially the outside terrace for a drink or a coffee. Its location next to the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos and all the Belém neighbourhood also makes it a great stop when exploring this part of the city.
