When Fashion, Food, Art, Music and Entertainment effortlessly meet, Lisbon gains JNcQuoi (pronounce it as the French saying, Je ne Sais Quoi).
JNCQUOI is a restaurant, a deli bar, a grocery, an Assouline’s fine books corner and fashion store. Where? JNcQUOI wouldn’t have that Parisian je ne sais quoi, if it wouldn’t be in the most luxurious avenue in Lisbon, Avenida da Liberdade.
There is a lot to discover inside the iconic number 182 building at Avenida da Liberdade. On the ground level, there is the Deli Bar: a wavy 42 seats’ counter with more than light meals and cocktails to offer. The space is surrounded by equally delish shelters, filled with delicatessen where flavours disperse from the finest oils, cheeses and foie gras, to a wide and top-class wine cellar.
At the Delibar you can expect deli’s classics such as fresh oysters from Algarve, beef Carpaccio, Beluga caviar or a Caesar Salad. In case you prefer to go for some traditional Portuguese Deli’s musts at JNCQUOI you may have the “ovos rotos (“broken eggs”) with truffle or a Pica-pau (beef fillet cubes) served with fries. Our tip: Do not miss the Lobster Hot Dog. The best is that you can have it all day long, from 12 PM to 2 AM.
On the first floor is JNcQUOI restaurant. At first, get surprised by the real sized replica of a velociraptor dinosaur skeleton. The skeleton is the centrepiece of a cosmopolitan yet classic and chic dining space. Heading the room is the lively kitchen that diners can see through, from where both Portuguese inspired and international dishes come out. The wide dishes range, with chef’s António Bóia signature, diverse from a creamy Burrata as a starter or a sea bass ceviche, to a red and moistured Tiger grilled shrimp served with a flavoured JNCQUOI’s rice, or a Beef Tournedo.
The atmosphere is lively and international. Don’t be surprised to find there a notorious Hollywood actor or a Brazilian model. The crowd there will have very much its own je ne sais quoi…
The fashionistas can also treat their appetite with some fashionable items, at the lowest level. There at Fashion Clinic, find some of the world’s finest artists, fashion designers, such as Valentino, Saint Laurent, Balmain, Dior, Tom Ford, Givenchy among others.
