The Tall Ship Races started in 1956. They're a sailing competition which aims to keep the practices and traditions of sailing tall ships alive, especially among younger generations. The Regatta is held annually and is organized internationally by Sail Training International via different routes among European countries.

Historically linked to sailing, due to the Portuguese 15th-century discoveries, Portugal is undoubtedly a stopping point of the Regatta, since the very first time when it was held between Torbay (Uk) and Lisbon.

The Tall Ship Races will be in Lisbon from 2nd to 5th July at the new Cruise Ship Terminal, located between Santa Apolónia Train Station and Terreiro do Paço.

During the days in Lisbon along the river's promenade, close to Santa Apolónia station, it will be possible to visit freely the ships and to have a one-of-a-kind experience that is both family-friendly and an unforgettable unique visual display in Portugal.
