Launched in 2007, the RC44 Cup is an international sailing circuit competition, in which the sailors will compete in extremely fast boats in all kinds of sea and wind conditions.
The five event 2018 RC44 Championship begins where it left off in 2017 - in the Calero family’s Marina Lanzarote, in Arrecife in the Canary Islands; Then to Portorož (Slovenia) in May; followed by Marstrand (Sweden); Then Cascais, in September, before the last event in November in Valletta (Malta).
Since 2012 Cascais, due its position opened to the Atlantic, combined with big winds and large oceanic well makes it one of the favourite destinations for the circuit.
This year the race in Cascais will take place over four days, from September 26th to 30th, with three daily regattas. This circuit gives invited amateur sailors the opportunity to compete with the sailing world’s elite.
The RC44 Cup and last year’s Wold Championship have definitely positioned Portugal and Cascais on the map of favorite locations for major sailing events.
