Composed in the 19th century, Symphony No. 3 by Gustav Mahler is an ambitious masterpiece inspired by the literary works of Friedrich Nietzche and the popular songbook Das Himmlische Leben.

This piece triggers a reflection on nature and how humans relate to it. Heading Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, the Gulbenkian Choir and mid-soprano Elena Zhidkova will be the conductor Jonathan Nott, whose record of this symphony got the top recognition from BBC Music Magazine, which had considered it as “magnificent”.
