Last July we announced here that Lisbon was about to have a new and promising art space, MAAT - Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology.
The grand opening is set for October 5th, where the newly built museum will be revealed to the public, art fans and Lisbonners.
Located next to Tejo Power Sation - a wonderful example of Portuguese industrial architecture from the first half of the 20th century, the new MAAT building marks a new landmark on Lisbon’s waterfront. The curvy, low-rise riverside building, designed by British architect Amanda Levete has forever changed the surrounding landscape of the area. Outside its skin, made out of glazed tiles was inspired by the Portuguese tradition and heritage of using colorful ceramic tiles.
The lineup of the first exhibition is, like the building itself, promising. The 12 hour program includes performances and music happenings along the Tejo riverside, with the full support of the EDP foundation.
