Mariza is perhaps one of the names that have been responsible for the dissemination of Fado worldwide. Alongside to Ana Moura, Carminho, Mariza belongs to a generation of Fado singers, capable of reinventing or renewing the Fado, which has brought the genre to younger and broader audiences.

Mariza’s first album, Fado em Mim that was released in 2001, which garnered widespread critical acclaim shortly after its international presentation.

However, it was in her third album, Transparente (2005), that Mariza started to explore beyond the traditional lines of Fado, and challenged some Fado purists, by breaking the traditional Fado sounds and combining with orchestral string arrangements and up-tempo, Django Reinhardt-inspired guitar accompaniment. She continued to explore Fado’s variations on Terra (2008), in which she incorporated influences from Brazilian jazz, Cape Verdean mornas, and flamenco.

At the moment, Mariza is touring around Europe to promote her album at some of the most renowned venues in Germany, Spain, UK, at the London Jazz Festival, France, and Switzerland among others.

Recognized by the international press as one of the best voices of all time, Mariza has collected awards and distinctions throughout the world as well as nominations for the most important world awards.

This time at Coliseu dos Recreios, Mariza will be presenting her seventh record, which was recently nominated for the Latin Grammy 2018, which includes the success Quem Me Dera, considered one of the songs of the year that counts near 10 million views on YouTube within few months.
