Branford Marsalis, one of the most renowned instrumentalists of our time is now coming to Lisbon to perform with his quartet at CCB this March.

Beginning his career in the early '80s, first playing with Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, and then with the quintet headed by his brother Wynton, Marsalis’ talent was early on recognized by many.

His artistry led Branford Marsalis to play and to record albums with some of the most influential and giant names from the Jazz realm, such as Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Herbie Hancock and Sonny Rollins.

During his career, he has been awarded three Grammys and a Tony Award for his work as a composer and saxophonist and has also been awarded the National Endowment for the Arts. However, not only of Jazz tunes is made Branford Marsalis' career, which also comprises a classic repertoire, playing music by Copland, Debussy, Mahler and Villa-Lobos and has performed with the Symphony Orchestras of Chicago, Detroit and Dusseldorf and with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra.
